An address delivered by Capt. John Cowdon at the request of The Property Holders' Association of New Orleans on Nov. 5, 1877. Contains 41 pages with an Errata slip inserted before title page. This address played a part in an act by the 45th Congress (1878) to authorize the Barataria Ship Company to construct and operate a ship canal from New Orleans to the Gulf of Mexico. A softbound book with a closed tear at bottom of front cover, a small open tear at bottom corner of front cover, most of paper covering spine is missing. Binding  is tight, no foxing or stains, text very clean. Good condition. A very scarce book.
