Quarter leather (spine), 4" x 6", 343 pages. A Catechism of Scripture History compiled by The Sisters of Mercy for the use of children attending their schools. On a front endpaper written in ink is "A Present to Mary M. Schaer from Bishop Byrne, Little Rock, Ark." on the flyleaf written in pencil by the same hand is "from Bishop Byrne". There are other writings on all the endpapers mostly bearing the names of people. The text of the book is in very good condition with no foxing or toning, the binding is tight and intact, the covers have some rubbing , the endpapers all have writing, the first two endpapres are present but detached, the first 50 pages of the book have some staining - the worse beginning with the first page and gradually lessening to page 50 with no staining on the remaining 293 pages. Despite its problems the book is in Fair-Good condition for a school book almost 140 years old. SOLD
