Hardbound. Joseph Jefferson was an American actor (born1829) who is best known for his portrayal of Rip Van Winkle. In 1870 he built a home on Jefferson Island, Louisiana which he owned and where he often resided until his death in 1908. 99 pages, illustrated with 15 full page photographs mostly of the performance of the play. Book was published in 1899 by Dodd, Mead and Company, New York. First Edition. Elaborate decorative cover and spine with gilt titles and scroll. Cloth shows some wear but condition is Good.
