Riley was one of the most popular poets and writers in American history. He was born in Greenfield, Indiana on October 7, 1849 and died in Indianapolis on July 22, 1916. He is best known today as the creator of "Little Orphan Annie". In the document offered Riley signs a document indicating that he has been paid $200 dollars for his readings at Lansing and Battle Creek, Michigan.
